Garth Stoppard, Jr.

Superintendent

As a second generation carpenter, Garth turned out to be a Jr. in more ways than one. Today Garth is a hard-working Superintendent who enjoys building challenges across sectors, from housing to commercial construction. Garth takes a very thorough, caring approach to getting things done on his projects, and enjoys the outdoor life in his spare time—especially riding dirt bikes, camping or doing anything on or near the water.

Tyler Tonkin

Tyler’s collaborative approach to problem solving and strong technical abilities have helped him successfully lead some of GLY’s most complex and challenging projects. From redeveloping a waterfront building into a life science research facility with vibration isolation technology to delivering fully integrated hospital expansions in occupied campus settings, Tyler is driven to chart a course for the team to meet the challenges inherent to the built environment. As both a Principal and member of GLY’s Executive Team, Tyler has built a reputation as a committed client advocate and enthusiastic leader who brings out the best in our teams.

Jon Friedrichsen

Project Executive

Jon attributes his appreciation of craft and hard work to working as a carpenter for a Spokane-based general contractor while earning a BS in Construction Management from Washington State University. Since joining GLY in 1999, he’s honed his expertise as a healthcare and high-tech office project manager and team builder. When he’s not piecing together complex logistics plans, you’ll find Jon cheering on the Seattle Sounders or casting a line. If he could talk his wife into selling everything and living in a trailer down by the river, he’d be there already.

Nate Downs

Assistant Yard Superintendent

Since joining GLY in 2010, Nate has been a valuable member of our Tool + Equipment Yard team, playing an integral role in the smooth operation of our projects. In addition to his supervisory duties, Nate also supports projects through GPR scanning services. Outside of work, Nate enjoys spending time with his wife and two adult children. He is passionate about all types of outdoor activities, particularly those shared with his family.

Sean Royal

Project Engineer

Sean recently joined GLY after completing two internships which gave him firsthand experience on high-stakes projects in the construction industry. With a degree in Construction Engineering Technology, he brings a solid foundation of technical knowledge and hands-on experience to his role as Project Engineer. In this capacity, he handles key responsibilities in trade management, overseeing work scopes, ensuring quality and safety compliance, and supporting project scheduling and budgeting. A Kirkland native, Sean enjoys spending his free time on Lake Washington, hitting the golf course, or experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.

With over 25 years of experience, Tyler delivers some of GLY’s most complex projects. His background in engineering, a number of certifications, ongoing industry education, and a full spectrum of market sectors on his resume bring a blend of professional knowledge and building capabilities that are ideal for highly technical projects. His approach? A balance of strong leadership and communication.

Steve Hoffmann

Steve feels at home with just about everyone. In his view, working with field crews, subs, engineers, architects, clients and “our first-class teams” makes each day unique. His 25+ years with GLY encompasses a wide range of market sectors, from fast-paced, ground-up construction of new office buildings to roadway and utility projects, garage structures, and challenging phased renovation work for educational facilities. He delivers predictable results every time and cultivates a strong team atmosphere focused on quality and superb customer service. Besides loving his job, he’s an inspiring volunteer, mentor, football fan, outdoorsman and family man.

Stephen Robeson

Stephen is one of our Interiors + Special Projects [ISP] team leaders, overseeing renovation and tenant improvement work in multiple market sectors. He is an ASHE Certified Healthcare Constructor and holds a BS in Construction Management from Central Washington University. With GLY since 2018, he is known for his high energy and ability to juggle multiple commitments with ease while still making time to mentor and guide others. He is an active member of the Puyallup community who enjoys spending time with family exploring the outdoors.
