It’s no wonder that Laura’s passion is helping people find their potential. She’s worked hard to creatively forge her own career path and achieve her goals. She is active in a number of industry groups and peer networks focused on green building and leads GLY’s internal sustainability efforts. Her background as a Project Manager allows her to connect with clients and project teams to drive sustainability project goals while keeping budget and schedule at the forefront. Laura brings her love of responsible practices [and infectious good spirits] to every project.

Tim Grant

Principal

P.E.

Tim spent the first part of his career as a professional structural engineer before arriving at GLY in 2011. He's since completed projects in an array of markets, from healthcare to hospitality, and a long list of high tech corporate campus facilities. On his current project, the University District Station Building, Tim and team are building a 13-story office tower atop Sound Transit's light rail station at NE 45th St and Brooklyn Ave. A former member of the UW track team, Tim traded in his running shoes for hiking boots, and enjoys exploring PNW trails with his wife and two sons.

Tess Wakasugi-Don

Tess has built her career at GLY, from humble beginnings as an intern, advancing steadily to a promotion in 2019 to firm principal. She is a dedicated, selfless leader who pays careful attention to every project’s specific vision, technical complexities, and goals. Tess is very effective at coordinating the efforts of design professionals, construction teams, corporate stakeholders, and owners while integrating various service providers into project delivery. She chairs GLY’s internal DEI committee, which focuses on social equity education, employee engagement, and strategies to improve diversity and inclusion on GLY’s projects. Her three young sons inspire her daily to feel empowered, to work hard, and to make time for fun.

Cesar Torres

CFO

As a natural strategist with an adept financial insight, Cesar contributes immensely to the long-term success and profitability of GLY. As our CFO, Cesar oversees all accounting, financial reporting, and risk management functions. He partners closely with executive and operational leadership to drive financial performance, support strategic growth initiatives, and ensure strong fiscal stewardship across the organization.

Cesar spent more than 25 years in the construction industry before joining GLY, and values working in an industry that builds tangible, lasting structures. Outside the office, he is deeply family oriented–no small feat with more than 100 first cousins! Cesar spends much of his free time visiting family, playing sports with his kids, and volunteering within his community.

Jon Friedrichsen

Project Executive

Jon attributes his appreciation of craft and hard work to working as a carpenter for a Spokane-based general contractor while earning a BS in Construction Management from Washington State University. Since joining GLY in 1999, he’s honed his expertise as a healthcare and high-tech office project manager and team builder. When he’s not piecing together complex logistics plans, you’ll find Jon cheering on the Seattle Sounders or casting a line. If he could talk his wife into selling everything and living in a trailer down by the river, he’d be there already.

Jose Ramos

Superintendent

Jose manages the day-to-day activities of a construction site with an infectious positive, can-do attitude. Jose’s obvious dedication to his work, the team, and the client makes him a valuable, well-respected, and influential leader on the jobsite

Bryan Haakenson

Principal+Operations

LEED Green Associate

A Northwest native, Bryan embodies GLY’s collaborative, community-centered approach. As a Principal of the firm and our Operations Leader, he oversees GLY’s people resources, processes, and field labor delivery, working closely with salaried and craft team members, human resources, safety, and the Tool + Equipment Yard to ensure operational excellence across the company.

In years prior, Bryan specialized in delivering projects within occupied senior living and other sensitive environments, and continues to provide strategic support to teams working in those market sectors. Today, he also leads GLY’s Sustainability Advocacy Group, helping to identify and implement strategies that reduce the firm’s operational carbon footprint.

Beyond the workplace, Bryan is deeply involved with the Washington State chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, where he has served in a variety of board roles for over a decade. He and his family love taking advantage of the Pacific Northwest outdoors — boating in the summer and skiing in the winter.

Garth Stoppard, Jr.

Superintendent

As a second generation carpenter, Garth turned out to be a Jr. in more ways than one. Today Garth is a hard-working Superintendent who enjoys building challenges across sectors, from housing to commercial construction. Garth takes a very thorough, caring approach to getting things done on his projects, and enjoys the outdoor life in his spare time—especially riding dirt bikes, camping or doing anything on or near the water.
