Funded by the University of Washington Arts Campaign, the Art Building Renovation improves community engagement, enhances the learning and teaching experience, and provides students and faculty with optimal environments to flex their creativity. GLY partnered with Mithun to leverage design-build project delivery—maximizing the budget across a variety of goals and priorities.

In addition to relocating the Jacob Lawrence Gallery from the north corner of the building to a more accessible location near the high-traffic quad, the design-build team made significant updates to various art studios including woodshop, lampworks, ceramics, and the advanced concepts lab. Construction scope of work to accommodate the many changes included abatement and non-structural demolition, new walls, ceilings, and finishes, equipment installation, and MEP infrastructure updates.
