As a diversified freight transportation, marine service, and energy distribution company, Saltchuk selected 450 Alaskan as its headquarters in 2017, drawn by its prime location overlooking Seattle’s waterfront.
The three-level tenant improvement [L6–8] within the nine-story building—also constructed by GLY—showcases a striking grand staircase connecting all three floors. Private offices are positioned around the building's core, while open workspaces along the perimeter maximize access to natural daylight. Large relite and door openings—standing nine feet tall—elevate the space and highlight the specialty wood finishes.
In response to Saltchuk’s increased workforce in 2024, GLY returned to build out L5, ensuring a seamless extension of L6–8. The new space mirrors the upper floors, featuring private offices encircling a central core and open areas designed to capture natural light. Refined finishes continue the rustic Pacific Northwest aesthetic, maintaining the cohesive look and feel of the headquarters.
