You may have noticed an increase in references to mass timber in recent months. These two words are finding their way into everyday AECO language.

At the end of September, Issaquah welcomed a brand-new office project that will serve as a gateway to the neighborhood and a precedent for a number of future projects in the pipeline.

GLY recently completed construction on a mixed-used office building located at 2005 NW Poplar Way in Issaquah, Washington. First breaking ground in August 2019, the four-story, 70,000 square-foot building is owned by Rowley Properties and is open for tenants beginning October 2020.

Occupancy for Rowley Properties’ 2005 Poplar office building is projected for October. The four-story development broke ground on a speculative basis about a year ago. The design, by VIA Architecture, makes extensive use of cross-laminated timber, lowering the project’s carbon footprint.

Issaquah’s landscape has several prominent new additions including Rowley Properties’ 2005 Poplar. The four-story office building just off I-90 features a cross-laminated timber [CLT] ceiling and CLT stairs and wall inside a glass-enclosed stairwell.

The 2.6 acre “Beach” at Expedia Group’s new campus on the shores of Seattle’s Puget Sound is open to the public. Though intended for outdoor meetings, the Beach has been hosting small musical performances, yoga, and other open-air activities.

GLY has a long-standing involvement with Forterra so when the opportunity surfaced earlier this year to join them for their mass timber event, we jumped on it!

The first phase of Bellevue Plaza includes the construction of a single, 17-story office tower along Main Street, the first portion of a public plaza, street frontage improvements, and a pedestrian through block connection.

As technology companies continue flocking to Seattle to capitalize on the abundance of talent, the modern workplace continues to evolve with them.

After close to five years of planning, about 300 Seattle-based Expedia Group employees started working from the company’s new Interbay campus last week. Another group will move in each Monday until all Expedia’s 4,500 headquarters employees are under the same roof by the end of the year. Construction wraps up next summer.

Drone provider Skycatch is recording all construction activity on the Microsoft Redmond Campus Modernization project, feeding data into more than 100 BIMs that contain almost three million 3D building components. This data is helpful in evaluating pay applications, predicting project schedules, and managing construction and tight timelines.
