Swedish Ballard Infusion Suite | Seattle
The original emergency department at the Ballard Swedish Medical Center is now a light-filled Oncology Suite, designed to allow patients to look outside while receiving treatment. The ER space, initially built in the 1950s, was completely demolished, and mechanical and electrical systems were brought up to current code. The new 8,100 square foot space features 13 infusion bays, 2 private infusion rooms, 6 private exam rooms, a staff break room and lobby/reception/patient education area. Construction took place within an operating hospital, directly beneath the birthing center and child hearing office. Close coordination with staff reduced potential disruptions to patients sensitive ongoing operations.
