Overlake Medical Center NICU Expansion | Bellevue

Demolition of an existing Cardiac Care Unit and complete build-out of a new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), effectively tripling Overlake’s NICU bed capacity. The new 13-bed unit provides infant patients, visitors and staff the care and comfort of additional space, and features two rooms that can be joined together to accommodate twins. Supporting clinical spaces such as a nurse station, soiled and clean supplies rooms, and a staff break room were also constructed. Another unique feature of this project involved two rooms designed for negative isolation capability.

Located on the third floor of an occupied hospital wing, this project required detailed planning and coordination, as well as proactive communication with hospital staff to minimize noise and disruption to other patients above, below and adjacent to the work.
