Mary McClinton Home for the Matt Talbot Center, Seattle | 2010
GLY and Matt Talbot volunteers of all ages and skill levels swung hammers, poured concrete, painted, rewired electricity, installed appliances and landscaped to restore the Mary McClinton Home into a safe haven for women recovering from addiction. CEO Jim Karambelas, committee chair, and GLY volunteers raised considerable cash and in-kind donations, and crews donated over 2,500 after work and weekend hours to make the house habitable. With help from Target, GLY held a holiday gift drive that furnished kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms and completed the transformation into a safe, sheltering refuge.

YMCA Camp Colman, Longbranch | 2010
GLY volunteers cleaned-up the Camp Colman site, repaired cabins, landscaped and built a marine "touch tank" to introduce campers to local sea life.

NAIOP Community Enhancement project at Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center, Seattle | 2010
GLY assisted in planning and was a financial sponsor of the NAIOP event to benefit the Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center. GLY volunteers made repairs onsite and worked on construction projects for the cultural center.

American Lung Association Lung Walk, Seattle | 2010
A team of 12 Walk participants raised cash for the American Lung Association event, for which GLY was also a Corporate Sponsor.

Northwest Harvest Sandwich Brigade, Seattle | 2010
GLY volunteers joined other NAIOP members on a monthly basis, making up to 2,000 sandwiches to feed the hungry.

Cascade People's Center, Seattle | 2010
GLY crew members helped with renovation and repair of the Cascade People's Community Center, which helps support and empower families in the South Lake Union neighborhood. Repair work included constructing new pathways, installing kitchen casework and bathroom upgrades.

NAIOP annual Community Enhancement Day, Ryther Child Center, Seattle | 2009
GLY was involved in planning and provided financial and in-kind support, along with 180 volunteer hours in construction of a therapy shelter benefiting children experiencing neglect, mental illness or abuse.

Habitat for Humanity, Rainier Vista, Seattle | 2009
Experienced GLY union crews poured concrete flatwork for sidewalks, parking pads and patios for a four-unit multiplex to meet the certification of occupancy deadline that would qualify Habitat buyers for federal stimulus refunds. GLY contributed cash, in-kind tools/equipment and 148 hours of company-paid time.

New Orleans Restoration, National Trust for Historic Preservation, New Orleans | 2009
Six GLY volunteers traveled to the post-Katrina neighborhood of Holy Cross in New Orleans to demolish, stabilize and repair a severely damaged home. The team built new walls, new roof and a new addition. GLY contributed cash, in-kind tools and equipment, and 310 volunteer hours over a week's time.

NAIOP annual Community Enhancement Day, Camp Long Environmental Learning Center, Seattle | 2008
GLY was involved in the planning and promotion of this yearly event, in addition to hands-on volunteer work clearing trails, repairing cabins, landscaping and cleanup of the nature camp.

NAIOP annual Community Enhancement Day, Northgate Elementary School, Seattle | 2007
GLY employees and their families have been volunteering for NAIOP (National Association of Industrial and Office Properties) Community Enhancement projects for over 20 years. In 2007, over 30 GLY employees joined other NAIOP volunteers to renovate the outdoor playground for Northgate Elementary with a new climbing structure and play area, landscaping, painting and clean-up. In 2006, we created a similar playground for Bailey Gatzert Elementary in the Central District.
